traditional bows
Fairbow has been making traditional bows professional for two years now.
We make American Longbows, English Longbows, Viking Bows, Holmgaards etc etc.
Bows are made with a variaty of materials and as availability changes so do our choices of woods.
English Longbows are made as selfbows, (ash, oak, canadian ash, Osage, Epe, and Yew) or as laminated bows.
Laminated bows are made out of a belly material as are selfbows but with the use of an epoxy glue an extra backing is glued on. These backings are usually Linnen, Hickory or most preferred (heat treated) Bamboo.
Currently our range of laminated English Longbows has up to six layers of wood.
As labour goes up with the amount of layers so do prices.
Making abow out of more layers lets us almost look into the wood as the layers get thinner. This alows us to put the best pieces of wood in the bow and decide where to put it in the bow to achieve the best efficience with that special bow.
Our unique concept is that you as our customer can have your next bow made and supplied to you in four different stages of production.
|
primary bows A primary bow is a stave in the shape of a bow.
This bow is at this stage only floortillered. You are now needing some elbow grease and knowledge of tillering a bow. The string grooves are already cut in so you can go at it staight away. |
basic bow Do you need some more ease than you'd better choose the Basic. With this fully floortillered bow you can allready shoot, but it still needs to be sanded and varnished or oiled and fitted with a grip. |
excellent bow This type of bow has been finished for you with several layers of varnish and has been fitted with a real leather grip.
It does not have horn tips nor an arrow strike plate. |
superior bow The superior bow has it all, it is the bow finished with an arrow strike plate, horn nocks and a beautifull leather grip. |
